Shipping vs Local Pickup

When freight makes sense for bulk lots, and when local pickup wins outright.

Local pickup is the default for bulk

No packaging, no freight claims, no damage disputes, and payment on the spot. For pallets and truckloads, pickup usually preserves the entire margin.

When shipping is worth it

High value per pound, small footprint, or a buyer willing to cover freight. Anything under about 150 lbs may ship parcel economically.

Freight basics

LTL pricing depends on weight, dimensions, freight class, and accessorials like liftgate or residential delivery. Always quote before you agree on a price, and state clearly who pays.

Delivery as a paid service

Offering local delivery within a set radius for a flat fee closes deals with buyers who lack a truck — and it's often your highest-margin add-on.
